Are you tired of desktop wallpaper that consists of a static image or even a single color? Then, consider an animated desktop background, which really makes your desktop come alive. Since screensavers are a thing of the past, for the most part, you can even use your animated desktop to liven up a room.
There are many animated desktop packages on the market, but Dolphins Aquarium by MAC N PC Software continues to be among the most popular. This does not come as much of a surprise to us since these underwater vistas are downright gorgeous. The theme here is coral reef, and both the static elements and animated elements are photorealistic and simply beautiful.
Users have a number of distinct wallpapers from which to choose. Each wallpaper contains a unique selection of fish and other marine creatures. The swimming patterns are also quite varied, so you will not notice much sameness even if you sit there and watch it like a fish tank.
Dolphins Aquarium lets you customize the experience as well. There are audio effects by default, for instance, but if you find that bothersome during your productivity periods, you can disable sounds. There is also a slew of screen options so that you can get the wallpaper just right for you screen. You can also hide or show the wallpaper with just a single click, which is a nice option, since this 3D desktops can be a bit difficult to look at when you actually hunting for icons and whatnot.
Some of the photorealistic animations are a tad off here and there. When those issues come to the forefront, a starfish, for instance, may look superimposed rather than part of the scene. We would like to see that corrected, but overall, it did not undermine our enjoyment of this fine package.
Be mindful that an animated desktop wallpaper requires more power than a static wallpaper. The difference is probably negligible on your desktop PC. However, if you are using Dolphins Aquarium on a laptop or Windows tablet, that draw can make a real difference in how long your battery lasts.
